The production of the ‘Hypnotist’, set in the Ecuadorian Jungle, made its debut at the London Horror Festival last Saturday.
The show launched in the main house of the Pleasance Theatre in Barnsbury.
Produced by The Monkey Fists theatre company, the show is set in the Ecuadorian jungle featuring an eco-tourist, Garrett, falling into the trap of the ‘Hypnotist’ and eventually succumbing to a deadly fate.
This was the show’s first performance and according to director, Andrea Hazel Lewis: “the cast were delighted, they really brought the show to life and were working well with the wonderfully vocal response from the audience.”
Horror fanatic Lawson, a member of the audience said: “Horror plays are generally more gripping and atmospheric than horror films, and the Hypnotist was no different.” He also revealed, “it had me on edge from start to finish, I liked the way the audience were immersed in the play by stimulating their senses, such as the smell of food and surrounding sounds.”
Currently in talks with venues to host another showing of the play, director Andrea admitted: “There were many technical elements so it would’ve been great to have more time to work with these, we investigated adding a live snake for the show!”
