An electric blue laser beam cut across the Islington sky on Wednesday night before police forced its operator to switch it off.
An eyewitness said that “a bunch of police” arrived at the Business Design Centre where Slovakian company, KVANT, was advertising its new sky-laser at the LiGHT25 event.
Despite getting the go-ahead from the Civil Aviation Authority which alerts pilots in advance to hazards in UK airspace, Islington police “had them shut down”, according to a Reddit post. The same user added: “The lights guy was ranting on the phone to his manager”.
The laser was seen from miles around with people reporting sightings in Richmond, Lewisham and even Cheshunt over 14 miles away.
