The Whittington park community centre will help a local boxing club setting a better lease term and funding the renovation of the gym.

The Islington Boxing Club, in Upper Holloway, is a registered charity as a part of the Islington Community Sports Academy and counts more than 1,000 users, providing boxing lessons and recreational sessions for the Archway community.

The Whittington Park Community Centre made a donation of £52,000 for the club redevelopment and for best renting condition.

The boxing club will now have a 20-year lease with the possibility to extend it to 50 years.

“The club has now a future. Our community helped the club to face the difficulties given by the Town Hall long term leases” said Liz Case, secretary of the Whittington Park Community Centre.

“We are really proud to help this club that gives the possibility to men, women and children to stay together and benefit from sport activities. In January will start the refurbishment of the gym and we believe that this will give the centre a great resource for the future. We also hope to guest some special events in our park.”

  4. POSTED January 4, 2008 at 5:51 amHey Dave,How techie do you need the subscribers to be?  One of my friends works for the Smithsonian in exhibit design, but she is not a techie.  Before I suggest that she check out your offer, I thought I had better figure out what your needs are in this area.

  5. BAHAHAHAHAHA. this made my day. Hilarious stuff. I’ve had a few doozies in my spam folder, but I think that one about seeking advice from their vacuum is my favourite ever! You also get the weirdest search terms! I get a few that make me slap my head in amazement at why people think these things. . . but most of them are the same kind of questions we get at work. Nothing about squirrels febreezing their trees. (wtf?)

  6. The Good Earth, by Pearl S Buck, won the Pulitzer Prize in 1932, which i find surprising. I'm sure there must have been better novels published that year. As you can tell, I didn't enjoy this.
