A LOCAL band booted off the X Factor on Sunday say their dreams of musical stardom remain intact and that they may re-audition next year.
Brick City, made up of Yazmin Manassib, 23, Duane Lamonte, 28, and James Bellamy, 25, all from Finsbury Park, and Anton Hearn, 27, from South London, sang for Gary Barlow in New York after reaching the judges’ houses stage of the reality talent show.
Barlow had previously called Brick City his “favourite group”, which added to the shock and disappointment of not reaching the live shows.
The band told Islington Now: “Gary loved our sound and our style. He made so many great comments about us. He called us the ‘tightest group in the competition’.
“As we were about to start our Boot Camp performance, Gary knew we meant business.”
Despite being catapulted into the limelight, they are still modest about their success, saying: “We wouldn’t consider ourselves famous right now. We’ve had people approach us to ask for pictures but that’s about it.”
The band have high hopes for their future, saying that, in five years, “We could be on our fifth album or front seat at the Grammys or all pursuing solo careers”.
Until then, they will continue to rehearse most days at The Lift on White Lion Street in Islington.
“They have the best facilities and are always really happy to have us,” the band said.
