Tollington residents have complained that a local Tesco receiving deliveries late at night has turned their lives into a ‘living hell’.
Tesco Metro on Stroud Green Road has been accused by neighbours of taking deliveries in heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) at antisocial hours.
These deliveries are made despite the association of the capitals 32 boroughs – London Councils – heavily restricting their use in residential areas without a permit between 9pm and 7am.
Claire Baker, 35, who recently moved to the area with her partner, told Islington Now that lorries laden with products were unloading outside her flat in the early morning.
“The whole front of the flat will start shaking as the HGVs pull into my street to unload,” Baker said.
“You check your watch and it’s 3:35 am. It’s just not right.”
Baker, who says she has been disturbed “at least four nights a week” since early September, demanded action from Tesco to fix the problem.
“I’ve complained in store, online and by letter. Nobody is taking this seriously and I haven’t had a proper night’s sleep in weeks.”

Ms Baker told Islington Now that her complaints to Tesco have been ignored, with staff in store referring her to complaints pages and helplines, which never respond.
Baker’s neighbour, who asked only to be identified as Ahmed, confirmed to Islington Now that he, his wife and their two children, both under eight years old, struggled to sleep because of the vehicles.
“It’s loud and it lasts a long time. I don’t understand why they cannot do it in the evening before people are asleep,” he said.
Footage seen by Islington Now confirms that deliveries have taken place between 3am and 4.30am on at least three occasions since July.
Multiple attempts to contact Tesco for comment received no response.
