Updated: 8 fire engines and 58 firefighters from attended the scene. Fire under control by10.15am.
A fire broke out at the old Royal Mail building on Old Street this morning. According to tweets from the London Fire Brigade, six fire engines and 35 firefighters attended the scene on the corner of Banner Street and Old Street from around 9am.
Smoke was seen pouring out of the top two storeys, said passer-by Miranda Thompson, and could be seen from as far away as the Barbican. The building is due to be refurbished but the cause of the fire is not yet known. There are no reports of any injuries.
