LUNCHBOX: The Zetter

zetterThe Zetter, a boutique hotel-restaurant in trendy Clerkenwell, never used to be much to write home about. Since its revamp by legendary French chef Bruno Loubet, however, the exclusive venue serves the kind of food that makes you want to tell everyone you know.

A combination of hearty Mediterranean classics and Asian and North African spice give Bistrot Bruno Loubet its
distinctive character and foodie allure. Loubet’s creativity and flair for food fusion show through in dishes including pan-fried wood pigeon breast, Mauricette snails and meatballs, and black bream fillet in bouillabaisse and rouille sauce.

The onion and cider soup is sweet and creamy, and the guinea fowl boudin blanc is to die for. Don’t miss the apple and rosemary mille feuille for dessert – perfect in every way, except that you’ll be left wanting much, much more.

Nestled on a corner of Clerkenwell Road, overlooking the cobblestones of St John’s Square, the Zetter’s low lighting and comfy sofas make it the perfect location for an after-work date or dinner with friends. It’s got the charm of an upmarket European eatery, with rough whitewashed walls and Miró-style murals to match, but without the hefty price tag.

The Zetter’s got it all: friendly staff, speedy service, and some seriously memorable dishes. The stylish Atrium bar runs the length of the restaurant and serves up snacks, cocktails and hot drinks throughout the day. There’s even some snazzy entertainment to keep customers coming back, including a French magician on the first Thursday night of every month and a live jazz band on Sundays. Definitely worth a night out.
