A fundraising walker will visit 16 landmarks in the history of HIV and AIDS in London to raise money for the Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) on Sunday 6 December.
Eugene Lynch, who has been volunteering for the Caledonian-based charity for over 2 years, has already raised over £1,000 on his Just Giving page for the HIV and sexual health charity.
His 30km route cuts through Islington, including sites such as the THT Head Office on Caledonian Road, Housman’s Bookshop (the first home of the Gay Switchboard in the 1970s) and the headquarters of another leading charity supporting people living with HIV, Positively UK.
Lynch told Islington Now: “World AIDS day [on Tuesday 1 December] is usually the biggest fundraising day of the year, so I decided that I wanted to do a ribbon-shaped walk, as the ribbon is the symbol to raise awareness for people living with HIV.”

“Anyone can join us, as long as it is socially distanced, on any legs of the journey to promote awareness for the charity. I have even designed a mask which has a QR code that people can take a picture of to take them directly to the Just Giving page,” he continued.
The money Lynch raises will help THT as it faces increased demand for its services due to the pandemic.
