Homes across Islington were left without water on Tuesday after a water main burst on Queen’s Drive.
The flood, which originated in Hackney and left roads in Finsbury Park completely submerged, cut off water pressure for most of the day in Holloway.
Parts of Finsbury Park, Highbury and Archway were also affected by the water shortage.
Paul Kendrick said that many of his neighbours had been affected by pressure failure when they woke up, leaving them without running water late into the afternoon.
Residents said that Thames Water was quick to respond to the problem, setting up nearby water bottle stations until the water pressure returned.
One man who lives on Holloway Road joked: “Looks like I’ll be brushing my teeth with Evian!”.
The water was rerouted around the leak and Holloway residents said that supply in the area was back to normal by late afternoon.
Thames Water has apologised for the incident and said that is is investing £1m a day to “reduce the risk of further incidents occurring”.
