The Northern Line via Bank resumed its full service at 09:33am yesterday (6 March) after a trackside fire occurred between Old Street and Angel stations.
A TFL announcement told commuters at 08:30am that there was a ‘smouldering’ on the tracks at Angel station. The Northern Line was suspended on the Bank branch while staff attended to the issue.
Fire services were called at 08:35am. Witnesses outside King’s Cross station saw a fire engine head to the scene through rush-hour traffic.
The London Fire Brigade said that firefighters were called to tackle the fire between Angel and Old Street stations.
They said: “The Brigade was called at 08:35 and the incident was over for firefighters by 09:33am. Crews from Islington, Shoreditch, Soho, and Whitechapel fire stations attended the scene.”
Passengers were able to use their tickets on London buses over the course of the incident.
No injuries have been reported.
