Police are appealing for witnesses after a 17-year-old died in a crash with a black Ford Focus on Seven Sisters Road.
Joe Walker was part of a convoy of five motorcycles that included his brother and three friends. They were heading north on 19 October when the incident occurred.
He was hit from behind by the black Ford, and thrown from his bike into the path of a red Volkswagen Polo.
An eyewitness said: “He flew across the road and came down and hit the kerb before going back into the road.”
Medics from both London Ambulance and London’s Air Ambulance battled to save the man for about an hour before he was declared dead at the scene.
Detective Sergeant Jane Mallet, from the Serious Collision investigation Unit, said: “This is a busy road and the collision took place when there were many vehicles travelling in both directions.”
The accident happened only a couple of weeks after two other major accidents occurred in back-to-back days on Seven Sisters.
On 8 October, a 21-year-old motorcyclist crashed into a lorry near Finsbury Park. He was not seriously injured, but suffered pain to his back and chest.
The following day, this time at the junction with Holloway Road near Nag’s Head centre, a 19-year-old was hit by a Royal Mail van and left with leg injuries.
Running from Holloway Road to High Road, Seven Sisters Road is one of London’s busiest and largest roads and also one of its car crash hotspots.
A map released by Islington Council showing all road casualties between January 2009 and December 2011 reveals that Seven Sisters Road is one of Islington’s most dangerous roads.
