Staff and customers from the Drapers Arms on Barnsbury Street are taking time out from the gastropub to tackle a charity bike ride.
On 17 June a team of ten cyclists, including pub co-owner Nick Gibson and his chef James De Jong will be taking part in a 60-mile endurance ride from London to Brighton to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
Mr Gibson said: “We are a community pub and we want to give something back.”
This isn’t the end of the pub’s sporting talents—it’s also in the throes of launching a cricket team, under the leadership of food writer James Ramsden.
The team will be dismounting to check out some pubs en route, added Mr Gibson. “We’re planning to stop a couple of pubs on the way to recharge our batteries.”
