Plaques reveal borough’s secret history

Walk Islington’s streets for long enough and you might catch a flash of blue or green out of the corner of your eye. Over 70 colourful plaques adorn its buildings, the latest of which was put up on Saturday to commemorate campaigner Jack Kennedy, who fought tirelessly to get the Birmingham Six released from prison.

We’ve chosen just a few of our favourites but there are dozens more to discover on foot, revealing Islington’s secret history.
