An Islington park has won gold in a mayoral competition.
Kinloch Gardens, off Hornsey Road, won the London-wide award after clamping down on rowdy drinkers who used to gather in the park.
The Mayor’s Safer Parks Gold Award 2012 was presented at a ceremony at City Hall.
Last year the council and the police made the park a Controlled Drinking Zone, allowing police to confiscate open containers of alcohol.
Cllr Phil Kelly, Mayor of Islington, and a councillor for Finsbury Park ward, said: “Introducing the Controlled Drinking Zone was the first step in making Kinloch Gardens a family-friendly open space again.
“It is very gratifying that joint work between the council and the police helped return this local jewel back to the community.”
