The team will be travelling overseas on 19 April to face the biggest team in the French League, the Templiers de Élancourt at the Complexe Sportif Europe stadium in France, before returning to Finsbury Park in May to play against Dauphin Nice, another French team.
Ed Morgan, the chairman of London Blitz, told Islington Now: “It will be tough certainly, but also an opportunity to develop and benchmark ourselves against the best teams in Europe.
“The match against the Templiers de Élancourt is an away game as well as the first game of the season, so we’ve got to rise to the challenge. that means stiff competition.”
Jordan Jones, 24, a linebacker on the London Blitz team, said: “The team is majorly excited about this. IFAF is a new league and the games are just before the start of our domestic season, and we’ve got a lot of hard work ahead. But we are all looking forward to it.
“We missed out on the European title last year and that was a hard pill to swallow. This year we are looking to regain that title, as well as the domestic title we lost to the London Warriors.”
The final will take place on 13 July, according to organisers at the International Federation of American Football, the governing body for the sport outside of North America and a developmental partner for America’s National Football League (NFL).
