A small restaurant chain is set to expand into Exmouth Market.
Hummus Bros will fill the space left by Starbucks, which closed in October 2012. The Middle Eastern-themed restaurant – whose menu predictably involves hummus – currently has three locations in Cheapside, Bloomsbury, and Soho.
For Hummus Bros co-founder Ronen Givon, the Exmouth Market location was a perfect fit for his brand.
“We work well when there are other food offerings around us, and I don’t mean Pret and Starbucks,” Givon said. He cited the market’s eclectic food offerings as a main draw, along with its outdoor seating and good evening trade.
For Hummus Bros, which was founded in 2004, the new location also offers a chance to refresh the brand.
“We’ve done a lot of work to change the brand and try to freshen it up because it’s been a while since we started. We thought it was a great location to relaunch the brand.”
According to Givon, the latest Hummus Bros location will open by the end of March. For the first month after opening, there will be a number of offers, including a 2-for-1 deal.
A waitress from Sweet, the cafe next door to where Hummus Bros will be set up, said: “I think for the first few months, there will be some competition, but after the hype dies down I think people will go back to their normal routine. We’re not too worried.”
