Sports groups and clubs are being encouraged to apply for funding put forward to celebrate this summer’s Olympic games.

The money will be offered by Sport Islington and the first round of funding will be given to projects which give people the chance to take part in Olympic sports themselves.

With events at London 2012 ranging from boxing and cycling to swimming and fencing, many groups in Islington look set to benefit.

Applications for grants up to £1,000 are being accepted up until the end of March.

Those interested in applying should visit www.sportislington.co.uk
