A Jewellery shop in Exmouth Market is launching a collection in early November to honour a seven-century-old jewellery company established by King Edward I.
E.C.One’s founders Jos and Alison Skeates wanted to capture the elegance and beauty of Goldsmith Hall by turning its physical characteristics into jewelleries. For example, they use the grand staircase as inspiration for the shape of two platinum pendants, one with diamonds and another with a green gemstone to go on a platinum chain.
Goldsmith Hall is the headquarters of The Goldsmiths’ Company ,which was established when King Edward I gave a group of goldsmiths his coat of arms and validated their gold in the 1300s.
E.C. One wanted to pay tribute to Goldsmiths’ as they will be celebrating their 700th anniversary in 2027.
Mr. Skeates said: “The Goldsmiths Company has been at the heart of the London silver, jewellery and gem trade for nearly 700 years…we felt paying homage to the Hall and its incredible décor was a way to highlight its importance.”
The collection also includes an 18 carat yellow gold with a center of a rare blue tourmaline and a sapphire wrapped around diamond and 18 carat gold.
All the pieces are made in the shop with recycled gold and platinum, and the stones can be traced back to the country of origin like the Madagasar’s sapphires.
All the jewellery is priced from £3,000 to £7,000.
