Pancake-lovers had a flipping great time at a Barnsbury church’s celebration of Shrove Tuesday this week.

The sugary extravaganza heralded the start of Lent at All Saints Church on Carnegie Street.
Plenty of children and their families tucked into an afternoon of free pancake-filled fun at Barnsbury parish’s biggest family event of the year.
There was also face-painting, a Wii games console, crafts, pancake tossing, a dried pea hunt and a bouncy castle.
Stephen Mawhinney, who helped organise the event, said: “The Pancake Party has been going on for seven years in this church, and it’s always been a great success. It’s a celebration for the whole community, and gives us the chance to tell people a little bit about Lent and what we’re all about.”
Nine-year-old Jack Ashby, who was there with his dad and sister, said: “I love pancake day – my favourite bit is eating Nutella pancakes!”
