A boxing club pulled no punches last week with its fight night in aid of a children’s charity.
Boxers from The Times ABC, based in Copenhagen Street, fought opponents from all over London at the fundraising show
All proceeds went to the Help Millie fund, a charity in aid of Millie D’Cruz-Parsley, a six-year-old girl with the life-threatening methachromatic leukodystrophy.
She is one of only 2,000 sufferers worldwide of the condition which affects nerve fibres around the brain.
The charity is aiming to raise the £200,000 Millie needs for life-saving treatment in Holland.
The show, held at the Rocket Club, Holloway Road, is the latest in a series of events the Times Club has run to earn money for Help Millie.
Last month, the club completed a sponsored run through the streets of Islington and its efforts have so far made over £3,800 for the charity.
Dave Ryan, head coach at Times ABC, said he was delighted with the response to his club’s fundraising.
He said: “The boxing fraternity have rallied round and we were really stunned by people’s generosity on Friday night.
“We didn’t ever expect to earn that much, especially as it’s hard for a lot of people at the moment, but people just kept giving and in the end we had so much money we could barely hold it all.”
