As school holidays loom and Easter approaches, there’s a lot on in the borough to keep everyone occupied over the break. From alcohol fuelled literary classics, to a chocolate festival, none should be stuck at home twiddling their thumbs.
Here’s our pick of the very best events taking place around Islington over the coming days:
‘Shit Faced Shakespeare’
What: Seasoned actors perform the bard’s classics, but there’s a crucial twist – one of the cast members takes to the stage completely pissed. The end result is a slightly more colourful take on the age old canon.
When: 27th- 29th March
Where: Courtyard Theatre
Floating cinema
What: The floating arts project will dock in Islington canal on Tuesday. Locals are invited to hop aboard and make their own floating sculpture. At the end of the week, the sculptures will be set free on the water of the canal to sink or float, before the canal boat sets sail out of the borough and on to its next destination.

Chocolate Festival
What: Billing itself as ‘the ultimate chocolicious experience’, the festival is a celebration of the nation’s favourite sugary treat. The festival includes a chocolate cafe promising creamy hot chocolate, raw coco, artisan chocolates and a health spa offering treatments made up of coco body butter.

Wildlife drawing class
What: The Proud Archivist arts collective are bringing a pair of tame Czechoslovakian wolf dogs to their studio for budding artists to have a masterclass in drawing fur. All levels of drawing experience are welcome, from beginners to experts.

Terry Day at Vortex
What: When your tastes are more Gershwin than Gaga, it can be hard to find the right music scene in Islington. But, for one night only, Terry Day will be belting out the best jazz hits at Vortex Jazz Club.

The Great Gatsby Ballet
What: Everyone’s favourite Jazz Age classic gets a dance makeover through the Northern Ballet Company. With rave reviews and gorgeous costume design, it’s a production not to be missed.

Where: Sadler’s Wells Theatre
Er, the Vortex, the Courtyard Theatre and the Proud Archivist are in Hackney. Add that canal picture isn’t in Islington either. Doh! And there is no such place as “Islington canal”. There are lots of pub theatres in Islington you could have mentioned. Must try harder.
