A woman on her way to a grocery shop last night got more than she bargained for when a Caledonian Estate resident pelted her with eggs.
Anna Lvova, a 29-year-old master’s student at University College London (UCL), said she was home all day and left at 8.30pm to give herself half an hour to get some shopping when the incident occurred.
“I was a bit scared,” she said.
Lvova, who lives on Roman Way next to MacKenzie Road, said she was “overall rather humiliated than injured” after being hit on the head.
She added that there were egg containers around and lots of eggs on the pavement.
Caledonian Estate, which is located next to Pentonville Prison, has five floors.
Lvova said a window was open: “I think it is the fourth floor and I have pictures of the window.
“When I came back and took pictures, I saw it was the fourth floor.
“It must have been someone higher than the third floor as some of the tree branches were covered in eggs.”
She said she returned to the scene to collate evidence as she wanted to report the incident to the police: “I have never reported to the police before.
“I was a bit disappointed that the police did not take any action. I understand it is lockdown and obviously the police have a lot to do.”
Lvova does not believe that she was personally targeted as “it could have happened to someone before and after her”.
After Lvova posted the incident on the Islington Community Facebook group, two or three people shared similar experiences.
Though she said it was probably some people having fun, her message for others who have also experienced it “should definitely report it”.
“I am not the sort of person to go to the estate looking for whoever did it but I think if a police officer did it in a gentle way and explain how this is dangerous.”
