We wanted to find out what people in Islington were tweeting about over the last two weeks.

There were several stand out stories in March. The last 2,500 tweets on the hashtag #IslingtonĀ were dominated by stories on Alan Cartwright, whose murder resulted in hundreds of people attending a vigil. But there were several other themes in Islington’s Twittersphere.

We’ll take you through the rest of Islington’s tweets.

Alan Cartwright

Predictably, the murder of Alan Cartwright dominated what Islington residents have been talking about over the last two weeks.

Hundreds of people attended a candlelit vigil on Friday, after the 15-year-old was stabbed to death while cycling on Caledonian Road.

As well as the teenager’s name, several words relating to the killing dominated the Twittersphere. These included “suspicion”, “arrested” and “murder”.

The pub runs several events, including a live folk night where visitors can bring along their own instruments and join in.

HiFi juniorĀ parkrun

AĀ free, weekly 2kmĀ run for children aged 4-14Ā attracted a lot of tweets. It starts at 9.30am every Sunday in Highbury Fields.

The winner of last week’s event was Joshua Connell, a first-time runner who completed the 2km course in 8:02 minutes.
