Upper Street’s little ghosts and ghouls are in for a treat this Halloween as Islington fire brigade will open its station up for a special visit.
The attraction is part of a locally organised trail this Saturday (29 October), when children can explore the station’s fire engines after cashing in on free candy from seven businesses in the area.
The event is being organised by independent estate agent David Astburys, which opened a new office on Upper Street this April.
“Being parents ourselves, we really just wanted to do something fun for the kids locally on Halloween, and that’s where this idea came from,” Nitsa Kalispera, head of marketing at David Astburys, said.
Around 400 families attended David Astburys’ trail last year. This year, the firm has partnered with William Tyndale Primary School to promote the event among residents.
Ms Kalispera, who started the annual Halloween trail during the Covid-19 pandemic, added: “We’re really focused on connecting with our community and making a real impact through the initiatives, fundraising and local events we run throughout the year for a number of groups, schools and foodbanks.”
She also said the company was “focused on establishing the same footprint” and “connecting with local businesses” in Islington as it had in Crouch End, where it was founded.
Starting from the estate agent’s office, families will collect treats from six other businesses: Fresh Lifestyle Salon & Spa, Gallipoli Café & Bistro, Mary’s Living and Giving Shop for Save the Children, French restaurant Le Mercury, Superette deli and Ginger & Lime Bar.
The trail is scheduled to take place between 1pm and 4pm on Saturday (29 October).
