It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas – the Charterhouse fair returns next week, with more stalls than ever before.
On Tuesday 21st November between 11 am to 8 pm, visitors will be able to browse over 50 stalls selling a fabulous selection of artisan food & drinks, handcrafts, housewares, clothing, and skincare products in the historic interiors of the Charterhouse decorated for Christmas.
Event organiser Tom Foakes promised the fair would be a perfect opportunity “to find special gifts for loved ones or yourself”.
Sellers include Stargazy Rum, The Gay Farmer, Cocoa Runners, My Skin Feels, Cosy Beasties, Loungers Clothing, Manatii Rum, and Aurora Jewellery.
Refreshments will be offered at the Christmas Café and the Brothers Bar. The Charterhouse Museum and chapel will also be open throughout the fair.
Sitting between Barbican and Smithfield, the Charterhouse is a former Carthusian monastery with over 600 years of history. It has also served as a private mansion, a boy’s school, and an almshouse which remains today.
The Charterhouse started hosting the annual Christmas fair in 2018 to welcome the community while also raising money for charity. Revenue from the ticket sale – £5 for concessions and £7 for everyone else – will go to support older people living in the almshouse.
“The Charterhouse Christmas Fair is becoming a fixture in the Clerkenwell festive calendar” Mr Foakes said, “and we expect this to be a bumper year with more stalls and more tickets sold.”
There will also be a Christmas carol concert served with mulled wine and minced pie on Tuesday 5th December in the Charterhouse chapel. Tickets are £15 full price and £10 partial view.
