Pacific Cricket Club must raise at least £180,000 to repair or rebuild its pavilion.
Last week Islington Now revealed that the club was set to be saved by the council.
The ECB recommended the club relocated from their Wray Crescent home to pitches at Hackney Marshes. However, club Treasurer James Gleadow insisted: “My crusade is to keep cricket in Islington”.
England legend Mike Gatting has expressed an interest in launching their fundraising campaign, but Gleadow has concerns.
“Ultimately we are a club of just 50 members and I just fear that the ECB are looking for bigger clubs with more links to youth cricket,” he said.
He added: “We are up against a ticking clock of substance. Who knows when the pavilion will be deemed unsafe to use?
“The council has informed us that they will keep monitoring the building.”
