A Hoxton music producer was jailed last week for falsely testifying in court that a rapper was guilty of attempted murder. Peter Okpohare was sentenced to three years at the Old Bailey after deliberately misleading authorities over the whereabouts of grime musician Kingsley Ogundele.

He said that the two had been together in a recording studio at the time of the attack on Regent’s Canal in November 2008 and doctored the dates on grime tracks the pair created in order to provide evidence.

The victim was the pregnant girlfriend of fellow artist Brandon Jolie.

Ogundele and Jolie plotted to kill the woman after Jolie became paranoid that she was trying to ruin his career by having the baby.

Both the woman and her baby survived being hit over the head with a metal pole and held underwater in the canal thanks to a passer-by who stopped to help.
