Month-long celebrations for St Patrick’s Day in Islington

In celebration of St Patrick’s Day this year and the borough’s first Irish-born Mayor, Councillor Troy Gallagher, Islington Council has partnered with the London Irish Centre to showcase a month of Irish culture and community. 

Here are some upcoming events to watch out for:

17 March 

  • Islington Irish Culture Trail
    Wander through the streets of Islington to find Irish artists performing in locations of historical or social importance to the Irish community. Discover singers, musicians, storytellers and spoken word artists, including the award-winning Irish storyteller Kate Corkery, and Irish-born singer and songwriter Jamie Roche.?? 

18 March

  • Irish Breakfast at the centre’s Kennedy Hall
    Celebrate over a full Irish breakfast, running 10:30am-12:30.
    Cost: £6
  • Big Charity Ceili! (Islington Assembly Hall)
    Get involved in a special night of Irish tradition, dancing to upbeat traditional Irish music with friends, while raising money for the Mayor of Islington’s?chosen charities: ICAP, James’ Place and forum+.

20 March 

  • Heritage walking tour: The Irish in Archway
    Embark on a 90-minute stroll to discover why the borough became a much-loved area for the Irish community.
  • Free Family Day (Navigator Square)
    Join friends and family to experience some Irish culture through a range of activities, such as fun crafts, street e
