A MAN’S morning commute ended in tragedy when he collided with a double decker bus and was left with life threatening head injuries on Monday.
The accident happened near the junction between Farringdon Road and Clerkenwell Road, Farringdon, at about 7.30am.
“The left windscreen window was smashed,” said Tony Akanbi, 55, a security officer working nearby.
“The bus was standing alone and it said ‘No Service’ and the police were around doing their job.”
Another man working nearby, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “He was in pain, bless him. It was a bad one. The bus driver was in bits.
“I was here when we heard the thud and the screeching of brakes and he was just on the deck. He hit the windscreen with some force to do that much damage.”
The junction was closed following the incident, only to reopen just before 11am the following morning.
The victim was taken to the Royal London Hospital and is in a critical condition.
