My six month mission to find the best burrito in London is over within two minutes of walking into Chilangos.
I first grew to love Mexican food when I was travelling (oh, alright, on a very long holiday) in Central America. The moment the plane touched the tarmac in Heathrow my mission, nay, quest, to find similar culinary delights began. And I really did try, making my own food, going to markets to seek out refried beans, and occasionally eating two suppers when I passed a promising looking place. But nothing ever tasted quite as good, until Chilangos.
Don’t be put off by the garish décor, or the fact that it’s essentially a fast food place, the food here is great. You line up, choose your taco, burrito or salad (pork, chicken, steak or vegetarian) and they make it to order, with fresh ingredients, as spicy or as mild as you like. At £5.70 for a chicken burrito, the prices are steep, but they’re worth it. The perfect venue for a quick meal with friends.
One disclaimer though, before you all go rushing to Upper Street to try it for yourselves – it’s not a place to take potential partners. Mexican food is messy food and however good it tastes, no one will want to kiss you if you have refried beans on your chin.

I love Chilangos, mainly for the sense of satisfaction I get from completing a burrito without getting it all over me/the table. It’s really tasty too.
