A food bank and youth shelter, offered by a community centre in Laycock, closed indefinitely this month after the supporting trust fell into administration.
Ringcross Community Centre is leased by the Pilion Trust which, according to Companies House, was placed into compulsory liquidation on 10 September 2025.
The Pilion Trust ran a food bank at the centre twice-weekly and operated a ‘Crash Pad Project’ for vulnerable youths aged 18 to 23 between November and May each year, offering over 1,417 young people in dangerous situations a place to stay seven days a week.
Adam Parr, the Centre Manager for a closeby youth-charity that collaborated with Ringcross, mourned the loss of the community centre. He stated: “It’s very sad, and definitely leaves a gap. I don’t know what will happen with the space and the building, but hopefully something comes up and picks up where they left off.”
The Ringcross Community Centre is owned by Hyde Housing, a housing association provider which leases the property.
A spokesman for Hyde Housing told the Islington Tribune: “We’re now working with lawyers and receivers to manage the return of the lease for the community centre, but this process can take some time.”
