Our humble Borough of Islington is quite the hotspot for celebrities these days. Here are just a few sightings from the last few days.
- Comedian Alan Davies was spotted cycling down St John Street on Tuesday, and was nice enough to stop to let a Hackney Post reporter cross the road. Kind cycling habits are very much appreciated here in the newsroom.
- The Book of Mormon star Gavin Creel and director Casey Nicholaw were spotted at the Sunday market at Camden Passage last weekend. They very kindly endured loud gushing from an excited fan (the author of this column, to be precise).
- The 43 bus seems to be quite the celebrity magnet. While Islington Council leader Catherine West kept true to her Labour roots by riding public transport to Highgate Hill, Charlie Brooker was seen getting on at Highbury Corner – who knows where he got off? Maybe somewhere dark and pessimistic.
- Madness frontman Suggs was seen giving new meaning to the word “alighting” when he was spotted smoking an extremely thin cigar outside Caledonian Road tube this past Saturday.
- Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford were spotted outside Gail’s Bakery at Exmouth Market last week. Our correspondent noted Mulligan is “beauts” in real life and said the actress was wearing a gorgeous leather-sleeved coat.
- The production team for Channel 4 drama Top Boy was seen offloading equipment on North Road, N7 after wrapping up filming yesterday. The show will be back on our screens in about three months.
- Bonnie Wright, best known for her role as Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise, was spotted near Angel station with her beau, Twilight star Jamie Campbell Bower, last week. A magical combination.
