Islington crimes mapped: check where bike theft is most common

If you were cycling in Islington, you wouldn’t want to leave your bike, even if it is locked, in Bunhill or in St Mary’s.

According to figures released by the Metropolitan police, 174 cases of bicycle theft were reported over the last 10 months in Bunhill ward. 

St Mary’s comes close behind, with 82 cases reported to the police.

Bunhill also has the highest figures for robbery in Islington, with 63 crimes recorded this year. St Mary’s comes second again, with 61 incidents.

According to the stats, the safest ward is Tollington: from January to October there were just 27 cases of bicycle theft.

The figures for robbery are higher, with 53 crimes of this kind recorded by the police within the period.
