An attacker who stabbed a passenger at Finsbury Park tube station has been sentenced to five years in prison, at Blackfriars Crown Court.
Adeyemi Adekeye, 27, of no fixed address, attacked a man travelling on the Victoria Line without provocation before fleeing to Heathrow airport.
The victim was standing on the platform waiting for a train when he was stabbed from behind with a pair of scissors by Adekeye, on Tuesday 11 August 2015.
The victim has stated that at first he thought he was being punched and got on to a train to escape the attacker. It was after getting on the train that he realized he was bleeding.
Adekeye subsequently travelled on the Piccadilly Line train was arrested at a bus station at Heathrow airport.

Detective constable Steve McBride, from British Transport Police, said: “This was a random attack on a man who was going about his day. Everyone has the right to travel on the rail network without fear or intimidation.
“I hope that the sentence handed to Adekeye will allow him to reflect on his actions on that day.”

Thanks to the victims report and the immediate investigation carried out by the British Transport Police this offender was arrested and subsequently jailed.
