Highbury residents are concerned about the potential disruption caused by evening performances after Arsenal announced plans to increase the number of concerts held at the stadium each year from three to nine.
Residents expressed their discomfort about the noise from soundchecks during the day, as well as the number of people who will be travelling through the area.
The proposed trebling of the number of concerts at the Emirates Stadium will be discussed at a community meeting on Thursday 25 October.
The club has made assurances that noise will be kept below a certain level and concerts will finish by 11 pm. They added that the number of concertgoers will be limited to 70,000 and the amount of alcohol sold at the venue will also be restricted. The events will only be held during the summer.
Under current planning restrictions Arsenal are presently limited to three concerts per year.
Paul Dimoldenberg, Managing Director of Arsenal’s public relations firm Quatro Consults, said the application was due to be made in late October and a consultation document had been sent throughout Highbury.
Islington Council said it would not comment until a planning application has been made.
