Clerkenwell Green is to undergo a series of redevelopments to make it more pedestrian-centred.
Architect Brian Q Love of Love Architecture, who drew-up the plans, wanted to create a “big space with little elements to discover within”.
The three-phase redevelopment plan will see more provision for pedestrians on “the Green”, enlargement of the island in the middle of the square and resurfacing of the area. Additional bike lanes may also be added.
The Clerkenwell Green Preservation Society hopes that the developments will restore the area’s touristy feel and promote its rich history.
