Students seeking bargain art materials formed long queues outside Cass Art on Colebrooke Row yesterday.
The store was holding its special student day, offering both freebies and 15 percent discount for those in education.
Queues formed from early in the day and stretched around the corner onto neighbouring St Peter’s Street.
Cass Art’s Twitter page said the earliest shopper arrived at 7am – two hours before the store opened.
While employees attended to queuers, Positive Arts UK spray painted artwork onto an alleyway wall next to the store.
Emily Bestow, 19, a student at Central Saint Martin’s, came in search of a new sketchbook but she admitted: “The potential for free stuff is what brought me here.”
