The Junction-based Whittington Health National Health Service Trust highlighted the work of 15 individuals and teams at the Trust’s annual staff awards on Friday evening at The Royal College of Physicians.
The Trust employs over 4,000 staff who deliver care to 500,000 people living in London boroughs. The winners included teams that support children with life-threatening or limiting conditions.
The Clinical Team of the Year Award went to the LifeForce Paediatric Palliative Care Team. “We are thrilled to win the award and we take great pride in being able to provide treatment, comfort and support when it is most needed,” Bernadette O’Gorman, matron for the team said.
An individual award went to Emma Prescott, a specialist nurse who was instrumental in setting up a globally recognised service for treating Thalassemia; an inherited blood disorder. Her work can be seen at the Haemoglobin Disorders Treatment Centre unit at the hospital; something Prescott described as “very exciting and humbling.”
“Picking just 15 winners was an incredibly tough job,” Siobhan Harrington, the CEO of the Trust said.
