Staff at Second Chance in Archway recently received several valuable items to include a donated bag containing 200 Euros.
A valuable bag was dropped off at the charity a couple of months ago, said Baris Kocadere. “I don’t know if that was the intention or not. I’m keeping them in the safe in case someone notices,” shop manager Baris Kocadere said.
He added that he was delighted to receive an expensive stainless-steel coffee and tea pot set worth more than £300 combined. The pair is displayed in the shop’s main window and is a 1967 Danish design by Arne Jacobsen, one of Denmark’s most significant creatives.
Mr Kocadere said the shop also received vintage dresses.
“Sometimes people come here to see a familiar face, sometimes they come here for a chat, or sometimes just to stroll… We distribute the shop’s takings once a year, which is also very satisfying,” Mr Kocadere said.
Second Chance supports several charities, including Islington Mind, which aims to improve people’s mental health and wellbeing. Mr Kocadere said the shop chose to support the charity after one of their volunteers who worked there passed away earlier this year.
