A well-known chain of upmarket cocktail bars is planning to expand its franchise by adding two new locations in central London, including a site on Old Street.

The Alchemist has a reputation for quirky and unconventional cocktails: the Bubble Bath cocktail is made a secret ingredient called ‘fairy liquid’. The cocktails are priced around the £8 mark.

The chain has invested over £3 million in the two new London-based sites. The company originally began in the north-west, with successful bars in Manchester and Leeds, but is now seeking to make its presence felt in the capital.

“We are delighted to finally announce these London venues. It’s been a long time coming but we feel incredibly lucky to have secured two fantastic locations; St Martin’s Lane and Old Street,”   said Managing Director Simon Potts,“both areas are vibrant, intriguing and offer a fantastically diverse drinking and dining scene.

“We are confident we can offer a memorable and immersive experience for both residents and tourists to enjoy. We cannot wait to open the doors and put more Alchemist stamps across the city of London.”

The Old Street site is expected to open its doors in March 2019.
