Two people held in murder investigation are released on bail

A man and a woman being held after the murder of Jonathan McPhillips were released on bail today pending further enquiries.


The man, aged 19, was arrested on Thursday last week on suspicion of murder on Upper Street in February. The woman, 45, was arrested on the same day on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both have been released on bail.
A 24-year-old man arrested earlier this month on suspicion of murder has also been bailed.
McPhillips, 28, a father-of-two, was stabbed on Upper Street on 25 February. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital in east London where he died on 1 March.

A 17-year-old boy was also stabbed on Upper Street on the same night, but has since been discharged from hospital.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams of the Homicide and Major Crime Command is leading the investigation.
