Man jailed for breaching court order on Andover Estate

A man has been jailed after breaching a court injunction that barred him from entering an Islington estate.

Anthony Ahmet, 22, appeared at Clerkenwell and Shoreditch County Court last week and was jailed for 28 days after returning to Finsbury Park’s Andover Estate without permission.

Ahmet, who does not live in the area, was barred from the estate by injunction after it was discovered that he led a group of antisocial young men, some of whom were also served with court orders, who disturbed residents. The group drank alcohol, took drugs, lit barbeques and smoked in the communal areas of the estate’s flats.

Police Sergeant Paul Cruise of the Finsbury Park Safer Neighbourhoods team said: “We are working hard to reduce antisocial behaviour in the Andover Estate and the injunctions served were for a purpose.”

“Anthony Ahmet’s sentence should serve as a warning to others that we are watching and will take action against you if you are involved in criminal activity or blatantly ignore court action taken against you.”

Police hope that Ahmet’s jailing will set an example to other would-be breachers of court orders.
